We are excited to announce that our work with Empower Retirement to design and build the first retirement app for the Apple Watch is a finalist for the 20th Annual MassTLC Leadership Awards in the Innovative Tech of the Year: Financial category. Finalists in 14 award categories were revealed at a reception attended by leaders in the tech and startup community across Massachusetts.
Since 1997, MassTLC Leadership Awards recognizes the best and the brightest from the Massachusetts tech ecosystem. “Massachusetts is among the world’s top regions engaged in creating whole new industries and markets while redefining existing ones,” said MassTLC President Tom Hopcroft. “We produce visionary leaders and exciting, high-growth companies and startups that propel the state’s economy. Ranging from robotics and the internet of things to products for financial or security operations, our 20th annual Technology Leadership Awards draws attention to the deep pool of talent, innovative spirit and determination that thrives in the Bay State.”

This year’s pick as a finalist reflects a trend towards financial service companies looking for innovative ways to support customers. For Empower Retirement, the goal in developing an app tailored for the Apple Watch is to help customers to actively think about saving for retirement in a way that more seamlessly integrates into their life. Finalists were selected from hundreds of nominations, as judged by panels of industry leaders in each of the 14 categories. The pool of finalists will be further narrowed during the coming weeks.
