Hi, I'm Michael. As Director of Client Strategy and Growth at Cantina, my mission is to partner with retailers, consumer product leaders, and other influencers to help them realize success through innovation. Finding breakthrough ways to communicate across multiple consumer touchpoints has been the cornerstone of my career, which has spanned publishing (including time as Managing Editor of the Tokyo Journal, Japan’s leading English language monthly magazine); communications and digital strategy for a global advertising agency; and brand strategy/sales for an internet pioneer.
Before joining Cantina, I led sales and marketing at the Primary agency. My focus was to drive growth through various business initiatives that lead to the launch of the Boca Raton Innovation Campus and the sport of FlingGolf, among other achievements. Prior to that, Yahoo! recruited me to strategically help brands onto the Tumblr platform as advertisers, including Olympus, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, JetBlue, Dunkin’, Converse, PUMA, Saucony, and New Balance.
Over the course of 13 years at MullenLowe, I executed the first big native ad campaign on Tumblr in 2010 for Olympus, seeding 1,000s of cameras with top bloggers and influencers. I also conceived and spearheaded the creation of an Augmented Reality camera that was featured in WIRED, got real cameras blended by the famous Blendtec YouTube channel, and drove hundreds of content entries in a YouTube creator contest for Olympus at the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament.

Other Fun Facts:
I am semi-fluent in Spanish thanks to my Costa Rican in-laws, and "pera pera ja nai" in Nihongo. Once upon a time, I played in a band called Meathead with Tom "everyone's friend" Anderson, the co-founder of MySpace, who was our singer. I also enjoy riding on my Wahoo trainer immersed in the virtual cycling world of Zwift.
