I'm Brian, and I’m a Senior Designer at Cantina, I love meeting new people and learning what makes them one-of-a-kind. To better understand human behavior, it’s crucial to build empathy toward a diverse set of idiosyncrasies. This type of analysis is an essential part of my core belief and mental construct when interacting with anyone, especially if they are new or unfamiliar. It’s because of this thinking that I ultimately landed in the field of user experience. It satisfies my compassion for a diverse set of beliefs that drives human experiences.
Since the start of my professional career 15 years ago, I've enjoyed leading teams through new idea exploration, research, and discovery to solve exciting and challenging problems. I have a specific passion for using service design to map the customer journey and advocacy to monitor and minimize the gaps between user behaviors and business goals. I love to teach what I know by sharing my experiences and collaborate with others who have various perspectives on how to arrive at the best outcome.
My past work includes redesigning and re-platforming a higher education eReader app called Bookshelf, leading the user experience strategy for “MyPega”, a business application where I had to bring together data and functionality from multiple sources into a single cohesive experience, and a new product vision for an energy intelligence software platform at EnerNOC.
I’m an active member of the Service Design Network (SDN) community where I’m working towards my accreditation as a Service Designer Trainer, and eventually a Master Trainer. I’m also a part of Subforum.org, an award-winning product group focused on the design of sustainable mobile products and systems.

“If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes.” - Albert Einstein
